How Christians Can Engage in Respectful Dialogue

The purpose of sharing the Islamic Dilemma is not to win an argument, but to encourage thoughtful reflection and point toward the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here are guidelines for effective and loving conversation:

1. Focus on Questions Rather Than Accusations

Instead of telling a Muslim friend "Your book is contradictory," ask open-ended questions that allow them to explore their own sources:

"When the Quran tells Christians in Surah 5:47 to judge by the Gospel, which Gospel was it referring to?"
"We have complete manuscript copies of the New Testament from 300 years before Muhammad. Since those manuscripts teach that Jesus died on the cross and rose again, how should we understand Surah 5:68?"

2. Respect Their Reverence for God and Scripture

Muslims hold high reverence for the divine origin of scriptures. Frame the conversation around shared commitments to truth, history, and God's power to preserve His truth.

3. Always Point Back to Jesus

The primary objective of Christian witness is to share the person and work of Jesus Christ. Once the integrity of the New Testament is highlighted, invite them to read the Gospels directly—specifically the Gospel of John or Luke.

Scripture Focus: 1 Peter 3:15 – "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
